Who We Are

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Our Mission

The Reimagine Life Foundation is dedicated to empowering individuals by providing resources, education, and support to foster resilience and sustainable change. We believe in the power of community and innovation to transform lives.

Located in Detroit, the Foundation primarily serves Southeast Michigan while also collaborating with statewide partners to expand access to adaptive equipment and support services. Working alongside dedicated community partners, we identify programmatic needs and develop high-impact initiatives that enhance health and quality of life for those living with life-changing disabilities.

We provide programs and services for individuals who have a disability including, but not limited to stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), amputation, or a congenital disability.

Our Story

The foundation's roots trace back to the RIM Foundation, established following the sale of RIM Hospital, a key rehabilitation facility within the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) network. When the DMC transitioned to for-profit status in 2013 under Vanguard Health Systems (later acquired by Tenet Healthcare), commitments to community rehabilitation services had to be preserved. The RIM Foundation was created to uphold post-rehabilitation services, patient assistance, and research that had been integral to RIM Hospital’s mission.

Over time, the foundation expanded beyond RIM, rebranding as the Reimagine Life Foundation to reflect a broader commitment to education, adaptive sports, and community partnerships. This transformation ensures that essential programs remain available to individuals overcoming adversity.

Our Impact

Through our initiatives, we have:

  •  Assist individuals through programs in education, stroke support, and personal development.

  • Provided adaptive sports programs and scholarships, enabling individuals with disabilities to participate in life-changing activities.

  •  Partnered with community organizations to amplify our reach and effectiveness.

  • Expanded access to adaptive sports equipment, ensuring equitable opportunities for all athletes.

  • Partnered with the Detroit VA Hospital and Oakland County Parks and Recreation to offer adaptive and recreational sports clinics for veterans.

  • Established gun violence prevention initiatives, addressing its impact on disability and rehabilitation while advocating for safer communities.

  • Developed peer mentoring programs, connecting individuals with lived experience to support and guide those adjusting to life after injury or disability.

  •  Organized Disability Day outreach programs in schools, fostering awareness, inclusion, and education on disabilities and adaptive opportunities for students.
